Chances are you’ve been through at least one tunnel in your lifetime. For me, the first tunnel that comes to mind is Northern California’s Robin Williams Tunnel. Depending on whether you’re traveling north or southbound on US 101, the tunnel marks your unofficial entrance into Marin County, or treats you to a stellar view of the Golden Gate Bridge and your upcoming descent into San Francisco.

But it’s really In celebration of another tunnel that we’re delving into this topic. The Eisenhower-Edwin C. Johnson Memorial Tunnel in Central Colorado will celebrate its 49th birthday on March 8, and we’re using this opportunity to take a closer look at “the leading publication covering the North American tunneling market,” Tunnel Business Magazine

Launched in 1998, Tunnel Business Magazine features any and all information you would look for with regard to tunneling, whether you’re a tunnel professional or not. “From billion dollar-plus megaprojects [sic] tunnels to microtunnels, we have you covered,” the magazine’s 2021 media kit states proudly. Beyond new project announcements, Tunnel Business Magazine features detailed descriptions of the latest tunneling technology and initiatives, as well as an impressive resource center, with videos, information on relevant events and more. If there was ever a place to expand your North American tunneling market knowledge, Tunnel Business Magazine is it.

Also dubbed “TBM,” the trade magazine publishes six print issues a year, and also has an online  presence on TunnelingOnline.com. If you’re more of a social media sort, you can follow all the tunnel goodness on its Facebook or Twitter pages.

But a quick reading of Tunnel Business Magazine’s content will perhaps give you a new perspective and appreciation on tunneling and what the business comprises.
