Roosters — Frying Size

Brenham has quite a number of very young roosters, frying size, ranging in age from six to twelve and fourteen years. The little spring roosters partake a good deal of the nature of the owl, i.e. they come out after dark and do all matters of devilment, some of their doings being in fact disgraceful. The parents of these young roosters, we are satisfied, do not know half the tricks they are up to in the shade of the evening.

During the early part of last week the monkey shines of a bevy of the spring chicks became known, and in order to scare the little roosters, it was reported that the Mayor had been furnished with a list of their names and that they would be published in the Banner on Saturday morning. This excited as much commotion among the young ‘uns as the explosion of a bomb shell in camp.

Shortly after eight o’clock in the evening, the Banner sanctum was visited by one small rooster who was considerably crest-fallen, and who requested that “his” name be omitted from the “roll of honor.” He was followed at intervals by at least a dozen others, each of whom by his action manifested his guilt.

The Banner advises these little chaps to behave themselves in the future or they may accidentally get themselves into trouble.
