Some people like flying. Some people don’t like flying. But regardless of which group you fit into, you might have to travel long distances at least sporadically, and you don’t want to get on the plane without being prepared.
Here are some pointers you might want to consider before you take your next flight:
- Only drink bottled beverages
- Airplanes’ water storage tanks can be very hard to clean and can harbor bacteria, so before you drink water, make sure it comes from a bottle. To be safe, you might want to avoid coffee and tea, too (sometimes they come from the plane tap water).
- Get some Zs
- Think an airplane flight is dead time? If you prepare in advance, you might be able to get some good shut-eye. Bringing things like a pillow and eye mask can make a big difference.
- Wear a suit
- Sure, most people travel in casual clothing. But if you’re wearing a suit, you might have an edge in terms of being given a free upgrade to business class or first class.
- Ask for the can
- If you’re a soda drinker, you might be used to getting a cup of ice with a few ounces of soda. Just ask for the whole can — they’ll probably give it to you.
- Pre-charge EVERYTHING
- If sleeping on the plane is not your thing, you might want to watch Netflix or do some work. Remember to charge all your devices fully before you get to the airport. Most planes will be outfitted for you to charge your phone, but good luck with finding a plug for your laptop charger.
