With billions of people on the planet, humanity represents a diverse array of interests and industries, many of which are reflected in the various publications that populate the world wide web. One niche publication that has long intrigued me is IntraFish. Self-described as the leader in “seafood news, prices and market analysis,” IntraFish adds an entirely new dimension to my perception of seafood, expanding the category from a source of protein I tend to disfavor into a reasonably large business sector with professionals, experts and trade publications.
IntraFish features essentially everything you could ask for, assuming you work in seafood: Prices (Atlantic salmon is down as of this writing), registration information for the IntraFish Seafood Investor Forum (taking place on September 19 in London), relevant jobs (the Marine Stewardship Council is looking for a Fisheries Standard Director) and, of course, articles on topics including:
- Biomar: Amazon fires underscore importance of fully certified soy in aquaculture feed
- Norway farmed salmon prices fall amid plentiful supply
- Tuna giants on witness list for former Bumble Bee CEO’s price-fixing trial
- Vietnam shrimp exports expected to recover in second half
- Brussels seafood show moving to Barcelona
It’s not necessarily a news site that will appeal to everyone you know, but for the seafood aficionado, IntraFish seems like a must-read.
In addition to the main site and the events program, IntraFish features a Norwegian site. The organization also puts out a number of print magazines, including IntraFish Magazine, IntraFish Aquaculture, and IntraFish Fisheries.
