You might think of mustard as just a condiment for your hot dog, but there’s plenty you might want to know (or might not want to know) about the yellow stuff. For example, did you know that:

  • Mustard is a not-so-distant cousin of broccoli.
    • Ugh.
  • …and cauliflower, turnips and cabbage.
    • Shut up.
  • Mustard just might have been first condiment developed by humankind.
    • Forget W, mustard is the real classic.
  • Almost all of the world’s mustard is made in two countries.
    • Extra credit if you can guess which two. Hint: You can’t.
  • Apparently, King Louis XI (1423-1483) wouldn’t leave home without mustard.
    • You know something’s wrong when even a French monarch can’t get his hands on some Dijon.
